The 28 day challenge – six-pack abs for the common man!
The 28 day challenge is a personal challenge to yourself – your chance to get the best out it. Go for it!
Robert Brace, your personal trainer in the 28 day challenge video, looks like one of those guys who was born with 6-pack abs. You think: “Sure, if I trained 10 hours a day I could look like that too!”
Good news – the MRMT (Maximum Return for Minimum Time) Program is designed for us normal people. You don’t have to be a top athlete to get the results promised you from Robert Brace.
His home workout video with the 28 day challenge includes things like basic abdominal sculpting exercises – 5 days a week for 15 minutes. This program is designed for people who want to improve their figure, their body toning as well as their posture. For women who want that flat, well-toned stomach or for men who have always dreamed of that “other” six-pack – not the one you drink!
There are many advantages to the home workout video over a fitness studio:
You are working in the privacy of your own home, where nobody is staring at your stomach during the first phases.
You can set your own time and pace. You have the ability to hit the repeat button to see exactly how Robert Brace does it. He stresses the importance of the technique, and really puts a lot of importance on your posture while you are doing the exercises. Especially in the beginning, you wan to take the time to make sure you are doing it right. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll be finished in less than 30 minutes.
You can save money, time and transportation. While some people live right around the corner from the fitness studio, most people have a long trip ( and a reason to put it off). Whereas some people don’t mind the $600/year price where you share the gym and locker room with dozens of others, most will say “thank you” to the 28day challenge video for $89.99 ( plus shipping and handling).
Look Better Naked: 5 Reasons Women Should Lift Weights.
As a personal trainer I have given out many weight loss tips over the years. One question I hear a lot from female clients is, "Will lifting weights make me get bulky?" In fact many women steer clear of body building classes because they fear becoming too bulky. And some workouts (we won't mention any names) discourage women from lifting weights over 3lbs! Granted, some people are genetically pre-disposed to building muscle quickly. However, unless you are lifting very heavy weights that you cannot perform more than eight repetitions with on a consistent basis, chances are you are not going to get bulky.
1. THE TOTAL PACKAGE
Lifting weights will help you drop pounds and sculpt your body. It increases lean muscle mass, which raises your metabolism, helps your body burn more calories even at rest and gets you toned and defined. Just choose weights that you can perform between twelve and twenty repetitions with. There are many great body building workouts in NY. That's part of the approach we take in our 28 Day Challenge, Home Workout, DVD series and classes. Combining weight training with athletic interval training moves, leads to a leaner, more defined physique.
2. TARGETS TROUBLE SPOTS
Weight training is essential to re-shaping women's trouble spots like triceps, hips, butt and thighs.
3. BANISH CELLULITE
Another benefit of using weights is that it can dramatically improve the appearance of cellulite, smoothing out the affected area.
4. STRONG BONES
Also as women get older, bone density decreases and they are more susceptible to developing osteoporosis. Weight bearing exercises are a proven method of avoiding and treating this condition.
5. LOOK BETTER NAKED, NOT SKINNY FAT!!
Finally, losing weight just through calorie restriction without developing muscle tone leads to a condition I see a lot in NY. People who are thin, look good in the latest fashion, they can even pull off wearing skinny jeans, but once the clothes come off, the truth is revealed. No muscle tone, mushy bellies and soft arms. I call this condition "Skinny Fat!"
David Barton Gym uses the tagline "Look Better Naked." This applies to all people but even more so for those who are skinny fat. If you are in this category you definitely need weight training in your life. After all who doesn't want to look better naked!
As you can see lifting weights is a great solution to tone, tighten, tuck, and transform your body. Trust me, they really won't make you bulky if you do them right!!!
So it's June, summer is here and you've still got a few pounds to lose before you hit the beach!! Don't despair! It's not too late to lose weight, look lean and get it together for summer. Here are 5 tips and some exercises to help you lose those last few pounds fast.
1. Interval Training
Interval training is the fastest way to boost your metabolism and blast your body fat. The great thing is that it takes just a fraction of the time of a regular cardio workout. This is not some "lose weight fast" gimmick. Interval training has been tested in clinical trials and is a bona-fide training technique used by Olympic athletes. The technique consists of shorts bursts of intense activity followed by short bursts of rest.
Challenge yourself to run on the spot as fast as you can for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Repeat this 8 times. This routine will take you just 4 minutes, and boost your metabolism more than if you ran on a treadmill for 30 minutes at a moderate pace. A higher metabolism means more body fat burned!
2. Eat to burn body fat
After kick-starting your metabolism with interval training, your body will need a readily available energy source. Eating foods that take longer to breakdown, like protein and fiber, will force your body to convert your stored body fat into energy. Making you leaner and tighter!
3. Stand Up For Your Six Pack!
When performing exercises with weights; do them standing, not sitting. By standing you force your core to engage, putting more stress on the abdomen and developing more abdomen definition.
4. Power Foods
Asparagus, green tea, watermelon all have slimming effects and are great for your metabolism and kidneys.
5. Lift weights!
Increasing your muscle mass is another great way to boost your metabolism and lose weight. More muscle means that you burn more calories even while you are at rest. The best way to build lean muscle fast is with supersets.
Supersets are a training method where you choose two exercises for the same body part and you perform them back to back with no rest in between and then rest for one minute. For example try twenty squats immediately followed by 15 lunges on each leg. Rest for a minute, and then repeat two more times.
The good news is you still have time! Put these tips into action now and watch your body transform fast. Start now and be ready for July 4th! Let me know how it goes!!!!!
